Colombia's President Wants To Make War Tax On Assets Permanent
Jun 18 -- The Colombian government will send to Congress a new tax bill that seeks to make permanent an existing war tax on assets, Colombia's president Alvaro Uribe said Wednesday.

Currently, the asset tax - which is meant to finance military spending - is due to expire in December 2010.
"Even if the implementation starts on 2011, I believe it's responsible to announce the problem, anticipate the debate and make decisions, even if it's for the future," Uribe said in a speech in a conference held in Bogota.
