Colombia’s lowest murder rate in 30 years

In 2008, the number of murders in Colombia for every 100 thousand inhabitants fell to 33, the lowest number in 30 years. Furthermore, the first two weeks of this year have reported 163 less murders than the same period in 2008. According to General Óscar Naranjo, Director of the Colombian Police, the kidnapping cases have also been reduced, registering the biggest drop in the last 21 years.
