The lower house of the Colombian Congress (Chamber of Deputies) approved the referendum that allows president Uribe to seek a third term in office 85 votes to 5. The result of the voting session was known after midnight and some opposition parties, like the Polo Democrático Alternativo and the Liberal Party decided to leave the chamber. Now the bill must go through the Constitutional Court.
