President Juan Manuel Santos announced the appointment of new ambassadors to Venezuela and Germany. Carlos Cure, a businessman from Barranquilla, will assume the position in the neighboring country, replacing José Fernando Bautista, who resigned over his apparent links to the Nule Group, a business association that is involved in a huge corruption scandal in the public contracting of Bogotá. Meanwhile Juan Mayr, former Environment Minister, will be the Ambassador to Germany, replacing Victoriana Mejía Marulanda, who was in office during both periods of Álvaro Uribe’s government.
