Palace of the Inquisition in Cartagena, Colombia

Aug 06--A must-see destination in Cartagena, Colombia is the Museum of the Inquisition.

6 de agosto de 2009

As you enter in to the museum, you'll first see all the 'tests' the inquisitors used to ascertain if someone was a witch, including a list of the questions they asked. The accused was also weighed to see if he/she weighed an appropriate amount - which led to the deaths of many under/overweight people - and you'll see the scale they used.

The next room in the museum contains a display with lots of instruments of torture designed to bring out a 'confession' from the accused. As you wander around taking in all the devices, you can't help but wonder - What in the heck were they thinking?
