According to a report presented by Oxfam International, in Colombia a number between 12.000 and 14.000 women have been sexually assaulted by armed groups. The report states sexual violence is being used in the country as a weapon of war. Furthermore, the researchers Irene Milleiro and Paula San Pedro, who presented their results in Madrid this week, have stated that the most concerning part about this phenomenon is the fact that it goes unpunished, and that most women don’t report these cases because they fear for their lives and those of their relatives.
