Pablo Escobar's fugitive hippo spotted in northern Colombia

Jul 10--A hippopotamus that escaped three years ago from a zoo built by Pablo Escobar, the late Colombian drug lord, has been spotted living in the wild.

Two of Escobar's hippos, which were imported from Africa, fled from the zoo in 2006 and had not been seen since. Colombia.

They became something of a local legend until Julian Lineros, a photographer, and Diana Pachon, a reporter, recently went searching for the pair, and apparently found one of the pair near the Magdalena river in the wetlands of northern Colombia, according to a local magazine.
